Gangtok is a popular place with tourists heading on treks, though the facilities do not reflect the number of international visitors. Gangtok could easily be one of the cleanest cities you've ever come across. Highly organised and beautifully maintained, it is the Switzerland of the east.There are quite a few places for vegetarians to eat, since it is mostly dominated by Buddhist culture. The city is a fascinating place to spend a few nights, the winding side.
Day 1: Arrival In Gangtok
Day 2: Gangtok - Tshangu Lake & Baba Mandir Excursion
After breakfast, prepare for a full day excursion to glacial Tsomgo Lake (12,310 feet), and the temple of Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir (a very holy site for all) – at a short distance of only 40 kms from Gangtok. Home to the Brahmini ducks and many migratory birds, the 1 kilometer long lake is oval shaped and nearly 50 feet deep. The surface reflects different colours with change of seasons and is held in great reverence by the local Sikkimese folk. Spend the evening in Gangtok for some recreational activities such as shopping and a delicious local dinner. Overnight stay in Gangtok.
Day 3: Gangtok Full Day Tour
After breakfast you will start your full day Gangtok tour which will cover Tashi view point, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Flower show, Cottage Industry and Handicraft Centre, Institute of Tibetology (Closed on Sunday & govt. Holidays), Directorate of Handicrafts and Handloom (Closed on Sunday & Govt. Holidays), Dro-dul Chorten, Nam Nang View Point (Ropeway on direct payment basis), Burtuk Falls, Ranka Monastery, Enchey Monastery and Banjakhri Falls. Evening back to hotel. Overnight stay at Gangtok.
Day 4: Gangtok To Kalimpong Half Day Sightseeing
Early morning breakfast. After breakfast drive 105 kilometers transfer to the Kalimpong. Kalimpong situated on the foothills of the Himalayas is a green destination at an altitude of 1243 meters / 4078 feet. It is a historical destination with bustling market, colorful people and offers spectacular views of the Himalayan range. Check into hotel. Drive for sightseeing tour covering Dello hills, Jelapla View Point, Pine View Point, Chitra Bhanu and Kalim Temple, Jang-Dong-Palriffo Brang, Durbin Dara Hills, Flower Nurseries, Dr Graham's Homes complex with its historic church and well maintained grounds founded in 1900 by Rev. Dr. J A Graham, a Scottish missionary, Delo Hill (5556 ft) appears to be the roof- of- the- world, is the highest point in Kalimpong. The scenic beauty on the way is beautiful and there are lot of shops selling antics and local handicraft worth buying. Overnight stay at Kalimpong.
Day 5: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to New Jalpaiguri railway station / Bagdogra airport for your onward Journey. Tour ends and memories begin.
