Day 1

Day 01: Arrive Delhi

Day 06: Agra/ Khajuraho (by Bhopal Shatabdi Dep.0811 Hrs/arr.1045 Hrs)

  • On arrival at Jhansi TCI representative pick you up and drive to Khajuraho. On

  • After freshening up proceed to explore the city of Khajuraho. The legendary
  • temples of Khajuraho are an incomparable experience. Acknowledged as one of
  • the world's artistic wonders, these temples dedicated to the Hindu pantheon of
  • Gods are covered in carvings that are a paean to life and love. Built within a short
  • span of a hundred years by the Chandela Rajputs, the 10th century temples
  • lay forgotten until they were discovered in the present century. Khajuraho has
  • achieved fame for the sensual appeal of its erotic sculptures.
  • The temples are grouped into three geographical divisions: western, eastern and
  • southern. The Khajuraho temples are made of sandstone. The builders didn't use
  • mortar: the stones were put together with mortise and tenon joints and they were
  • held in place by gravity. This form of construction requires very precise joints.
  • The columns and architraves were built with megaliths that weighed up to 20
  • tons.
