Day 1: Arrival At Leh
Arrival Leh in the morning and transfer to the hotel. Full day of rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 feet / 3500 meters). Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 2: Leh To Alchi Likir Back To Leh
After breakfast, proceed on full-day sightseeing tour of the Alchi-Likir circuit, visiting first the impressively located 15th century Likir monastery and then the 11th century Alchi Choskor, oldest surviving monastic complex of Ladakh and famous for its ancient frescoes and architecture - a UNESCO listed heritage site. After sightseeing and lunch here, drive back to Leh, en-route visiting Sangam (confluence of Indus and Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic Point, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Kali Mata (Temple of “Guardians’ or Gonkhang in Spituk monastery) and Hall of Fame (museum of military heritage and culture). Overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Leh To Pangong Lake
Early departure for Pangong Lake (approx. 150 kms), via Chang-la pass (alt: 17370 feet/ 5486 meters) -3rd highest motor-able pass in the world. Pangong Lake (alt: 14,500 feet) is 4-5 kms wide and about 140 kms long, which about two-third lies on the other side of the Indo-China border. Enjoy a full day of sightseeing around the lake and then check-in at a tented camp near the lake for overnight stay or drive back for 30 kms to the small township of Tangtse for overnight stay at a hotel / guest house.
Day 4: Pangong Lake To Leh
After breakfast, leave Pangong / Tangtse and retrace the road to Leh re-crossing the Chang-la pass. Upon reaching Karu, drive across the Indus and visit the famous Hemis Monastery, biggest and richest monastery and the principal seat of the Drukpa- Kagyut monastic order in Ladakh. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 5: Pangong Lake To Leh
After breakfast, leave Pangong / Tangtse and retrace the road to Leh re-crossing the Chang-la pass. Upon reaching Karu, drive across the Indus and visit the famous Hemis Monastery, biggest and richest monastery and the principal seat of the Drukpa- Kagyut monastic order in Ladakh. Dinner and overnight in the hotel.
Day 6: Leh To Khardung-la Back To Leh
In the morning drive to Khardong-La (80 kms round trip), highest motor-able pass in the world (alt: 18,380 feet). Enjoy spectacular views of the Indus Valley and the mountain ranges beyond while driving back from the pass. Rest of the day at leisure to explore the markets. Overnight at the hotel.
