About the tour
Welcome to the ‘Big Smoke’, crouched at the mouth of the imaginatively named Grey River. The West Coast’s largest town has gold in its veins, and today its fortunes still ebb and flow with the tide of mining, although dairy farming and tourism top up the coffers. The town is well geared for travellers, offering all the necessary services and the odd tourist attraction, the most famous of which is Shantytown.

Day-wise Itinerary
ExpandDay 1: Arrival At Christchurch
On arrival at Christchurch, 'The Garden City', seat in coach passengers you will be met by our local representative and privately transferred to your hotel. Self drive passengers will collect your rental car at the airport and drive to your hotel.
Day 2: Christchurch To Punakaiki Later Proceed To Greymouth
Depart Christchurch on the renowned Tranz Alpine Train (seat in coach passengers only), over the Southern Alps to Greymouth. On arrival in Greymouth, continue by coach to Punakaiki to view the Pancake Rocks, magnificent limestone formations carved over millions of years. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 3: Greymouth To Glacier Region
Travel south along the rugged West Coast to arrive in the glacier region of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 4: Glacier Region To Queenstown
Depart the Glacier Region today through spectacular mountain ranges, native forests and lakes to Haast Pass, Gateway to World Heritage Westland National Park. Follow the shores of Lakes Hawea and Wanaka to Queenstown. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 5: Leisure At Queenstown
A free day to explore the endless optional attractions available. Queenstown offers bungy jumping, jetboating, white water rafting, gondola rides and much more. Optional activities not included in the tour price. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 6: Queenstown To Mount Cook Later Proceed To Christchurch
Travel through the Central Otago region to Mount Cook or as known in Maori 'Aoraki', the cloud piercer. Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd at Lake Tekapo before travelling across the Canterbury Plains to arrive in Christchurch. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 7: Departure
Your tour conclude today with a departure transfer.
