Adelaide Arcade is a shopping arcade in the center of Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1885 with 50 stores, the arcade grew to over 100 shops through the addition of a balcony area in the 1960s. It was one of the first buildings in South Australia to have electric-powered lights. Adelaide Arcade now has its very own Museum showcasing its colourful history. Set up on the balcony level of Gay's Arcade, there are artefacts, photographs, newspaper clippings, trinkets and even an accordian that plays the official 'Adelaide Arcade Polka.
