Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary Located on the western tip of the island of Chorao along the river Mandovi, the thickly forested Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary is home to hundreds of birds and many unusual species including the mudskipper and the black drongo. Spread over 1.78 km, the area is covered with a thick layer of mangrove forests. It is the only bird sanctuary in Goa and has been dedicated to one of India's most famous and beloved ornithologists, Dr. Salim Ali.
