About

This beautiful garden reopened in 2005 after a long restoration. Bardini, the Florentine antique dealer who bequeathed it to the city of Florence, used to call it "Garden of the 3 Gardens" because of its English garden, the baroque staircase, and the agricultural park. The park is on the slope of the hill behind Ponte Vecchio, and the grand staircase leads up to the Belvedere that offers a beautiful view of the town. Officinal (rosemary and lavender) and rose plants decorate, the meadows and the wisteria and hydrangea tunnel has been restored. The villa now houses a café, a restaurant and two museums. The Museo Pietro Annigoni opened at the end of 2008 and displays some of the works of the modern Milanese painter who spent most of his life in Florence. The other museum is dedicated to well known fashion designer Roberto Capucci. The Museum gathers a collection of his creative sculpture-dresses. - Maria Frullini
