GPIB was founded on October 31, 1948 which at that time was called "De Protestantse Kerk in Westelijk Indonesie" by Tata-Church-the Church and Regulations presented by the Synod of the proto-Am Working Committee (Algemene Moderamen) Indonesian Protestant Church.
