About
Harding Park Golf Course, host of the 2009 Presidents Cup, is one of the most noteworthy municipal courses in the country. Dating back to 1925, it was named after President Warren G. Harding, an avid golfer who died in a San Francisco hotel room two years prior. The course has hosted such events as the U.S. Public Links in 1937 and 1956, the PGA Tour's Lucky Invitational until 1969 and the 2005 WGC-American Express Championships. Harding Park's character is in the classical golf course design by Willie Watson: gentle doglegs, raised greens and punishing, well placed bunkers.
