The Museum of Man in the Northeast is a museum Brazil located in the city of Recife . Founded in 1979 , it was created from the collections of the former Museum of the sugar, the Museum of Anthropology and the Museum of Popular Art. As part of the Institute's Documentation Nabuco Foundation , a museum and museum-design was inspired by the concept of a regional museum, designed by sociologist - anthropologist Gilberto Freyre .
