The dam is sited in a protected forest region inside the Kudremukh National Park in Chikmagalur. Hence, permission of the forest department is mandatory to visit the Dam area.This is an ideal spot to spend some wonderful time with family in the company of nature. However, since it is inside a wildlife area, certain restrictions are imposed on the tourist activities here. Despite the fact that it is inside a forest, the dam and the surrounding nature is a popular tourist attraction of the area.
