The best live music venues are the most intimate ones. It's no surprise, then, that The Independent has been one of San Francisco’s favorite venues for more than 30 years. In that time, the club has showcased many up-and-coming bands and artists who have gone on to hit the big time--everyone from Steel Pulse to John Legend to the Zombies. In recent years, the theater also has become renowned for its efforts in sustainability, and was the first rock venue in the city to be certified by the SF Green Business Program.
