The name of the park dates back to the eighteenth century , when the miner Antonio Martins Barbosa settled in the area, in an elevated part of Independence Avenue, yourwindmill . At the time the wheat was a product of great economic importance to the people of the parish of Our Lady Mother of God, who became the city of Porto Alegre in 1822. 1Until now the state of Rio Grande do Sul is one of the largest producers wheat country. In1839 , the cartographer Luís Pereira Dias concocted a map of the city and has recorded a point in the area at the time of the current Good Counsel College , as "Old Wind Mills".
