This is the most important square of Venice, housing some of the famous monuments of the city. Saint Marcus' Basilica and Palazzo Ducale are on two sides of Saint Marcus Square. The view of the sea on the other side adds to its beauty. It also gives a special effect of ‘acqua alta', due to the high tidal-level. Besides, it is the huge Saint Marcus' belfry, providing most enchanting view of the entire city of Venice.
