With 750 seats, the "Pfauen" is the largest and oldest stage at the Schauspielhaus. During the war years, the theater experienced a revival and developed into a theater with an explicit anti-fascist direction and a critically chosen program of plays. Many immigrants and actors who were openly against national socialism joined the cast.Today, the Schauspielhaus offers a diverse and exciting program and 20 to 30 premières each year.
