Sri Rameshwara temple is located at the bank of the river Thunga which was established by sage Parasuram. Blood stain in the axe of Parasuram after cutting his mother's head to carry out the orders of his father was washed in Thunga river on new moon day of Margashira month according to Hindu calendar also called as Yellu Amavasya.
