About

Built by Bundela King during Mughal period, the palace is located near the foothill of the left-wing of the Aurangabad Caves. The name Soneri Mahal came up as the palace is adorned with golden paintings. The palace building is made of stone and lime and has a high plinth. It is a two-storeyed spacious building, constructed in typical Rajput style. This old historic monument is now converted into museum that houses a variety of ancient Indian dresses, pottery and remains of local palaces and antiques of daily use. Also, a number of sculptures and reliefs from the local excavations are on display.
