The beginning of the Narrows Golf Club was a far cry from the currently well manicured 5827 metre layout which nestles alongside the Waikato River on Airport Road, 9 kilometres south east of Hamilton.

Along with many similar country courses, the Narrows Club came into being in the 1930's to provide a nine hole golf facility for the local farming community of Tamahere .
