"Opening up the science, art and nature of the Dark Skies for all. The recent establishment in Dumfries and Galloway of Britain's first Dark Sky Park, the SDSO is a public observatory on a rocky knowe in the hills above Loch Doon on the Craigengillan Estate. The skies above probably the darkest that most people will ever see. Countless stars, the Milky Way stretching from horizon to horizon, shooting stars, planets, comets and the Northern Lights are all visible from here.
