Day 03: Leh To Uleytokpo
After breakfast leave for Lamayuru (127 kms.) which is believed to be the oldest site where a Buddhist monastery was founded during the 11th century AD. Lamayuru monastery is famous for the spectacular setting with the unique ‘Moonland” hills forming its backdrop. After breakfast leave for Nubra Valley, driving across Khardong-la (alt: 18,380 ft.), highest motorable pass in the world, recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. After descending from the pass, drive on for sightseeing of Samstaling Monastery in the Sumoor area. Day 07: Leh - Pangong Lake - Leh
Early departure for Pangong Lake (approx. 150 kms), via Chang-la pass (alt: 17370 ft./ 5486 meters)-3rd highest motorable pass in the world. Pangong Lake (alt: 14,500 ft.) is 4-5 kms wide and about 140 kms long, of which about two-third lies on the other side of the Indo-China border. Day 10: Tsomoriri - Tsokar - Taglangla - Leh
After breakfast retrace the route till Puga Sumdo and then follow the road to the Polokongka (4920 mtrs), a tabletop pass which leads to Tsokar Lake, a salt lake system in the Rupsho area, home of the Changa nomads and support many rare wild life species. After sightseeing of the area, take the Manali-Leh road to return to Leh, en-route crossing the Taglang-la pass (alt: 17,585ft) Overnight stay at Leh.
