Day 01: Arrival At Leh
Arrival Leh by morning flight and transfer to the hotel. Full day for complete rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 35 00 mtrs). Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 02: Leh Sightseeing
After leisurely breakfast, proceed on a full day sightseeing & cultural tour of Shey Palace, Sindhu Ghat, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery & Stok Palace Musuem. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 03: Leh To Uleytokpo
After breakfast leave for Lamayuru (127 kms.) which is believed to be the oldest site where a Buddhist monastery was founded during the 11th century AD. Lamayuru monastery is famous for the spectacular setting with the unique ‘Moonland” hills forming its backdrop. After sightseeing & lunch here drive back on the Leh road till Uleytokpo / Nurla and then check-in at a fixed camp / hut camp. Dinner & overnight stay at Uleytokpo
Day 04: Uleytokpo To Leh
After breakfast drive towards Leh, enroute visiting the 11th century Alchi Choskor, oldest surviving monastic heritage of Ladakh- a UNESCO listed heritage site. Thereafter drive back to Leh, enroute visiting the 15th century Likir monastery, Sangam (confluence of Indus & Zanskar Rivers), Magnetic Point, Gurudwara Pathar Sahib, Kali Mata (Temple of Guardians in Spituk monastery) & Hall of Fame (museum of Military heritage culture). Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 05: Leh To Nubra Valley
After breakfast leave for Nubra Valley, driving across Khardong-la (alt: 18,380 ft.), highest motorable pass in the world, recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. After descending from the pass, drive on for sightseeing of Samstaling Monastery in the Sumoor area. Later check- in at a fixed tent / hut camp in the same valley OR drive across to Deskit / Hundar for overnight stay in a camp or a hotel. Dinner & overnight stay at Nubra valley.
Day 06: Nubra Valley To Leh
In the morning, drive to / explore Deskit (headquarters of Nubra), Hundar and the Sand Dunes. You can enjoy a short camel safari amidst the sand dunes on the double humped Bactrian camels (optional). In the afternoon return to Leh, en- route visiting the dramatically located 15th century Deskit monastery. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 07: Leh - Pangong Lake - Leh
Early departure for Pangong Lake (approx. 150 kms), via Chang-la pass (alt: 17370 ft./ 5486 meters)-3rd highest motorable pass in the world. Pangong Lake (alt: 14,500 ft.) is 4-5 kms wide and about 140 kms long, of which about two-third lies on the other side of the Indo-China border. After sightseeing around the lake, drive back to Leh, reaching in the evening. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 08: Leh
Leisurely day at Leh day for rest after the long journey to Pangong Lake. In the afternoon visit Sankar Gompa, Leh Palace & the markets. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 09: Leh To Tsomoriri / Korzok
Early departure for Tsomo-riri Lake (alt: 15,000 ft.) driving past Chumathang (hot springs), Mahe Bridge and Puga Sumdo. Tsomoriri Lake (28 km long & about 8 km wide) is the breeding ground of many migratory birds including the rare bar-headed geese. The village & monastery of Korzok located on the banks of the lake is the only settled population in the area which is otherwise roamed by the nomadic Changpa tribes. Dinner & overnight stay at Tsomoriri
Day 10: Tsomoriri - Tsokar - Taglangla - Leh
After breakfast retrace the route till Puga Sumdo and then follow the road to the Polokongka (4920 mtrs), a tabletop pass which leads to Tsokar Lake, a salt lake system in the Rupsho area, home of the Changa nomads and support many rare wild life species. After sightseeing of the area, take the Manali-Leh road to return to Leh, en-route crossing the Taglang-la pass (alt: 17,585ft) Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 11: Leh
Free day at Leh for rest & recuperation from the long journeys. In the afternoon you may visit & explore the markets at your own pace for shopping etc. Overnight stay at Leh.
Day 12: Departure From Leh
Early morning transfer to the airport for taking the homewards flight.
