Shillong is one of the major tourist destinations in North East India. Cherrapunji offers a panoramic view of the hilly terrains, deep gorges and valleys with its spectacular waterfalls. It was once having the record of being the wettest place on earth, with an average rainfall of about 1150ms.
Day 01: Arrival At Guwahati
Arrive Guwahati airport and drive to Shillong (140 kms / 4 hrs drive approx). Check-in Hotel and after refreshment if time permits we visit Cathedral of Marry and evening roam the Shillong’s famous Police Bazar on foot. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 02: Shillong To Cherrapunjee
After breakfast drive to Cherrapunjee (60 kms / 2 hrs drive approx one way). En route visit the famous Elephant Falls and Shillong Peak - to enjoy a bird’s eye view of Shillong city. At Cherrapunjee visit – Mawsmai Cave, Mawsmai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls and Nohkalikai Falls. After lunch at Cherrapunjee, visit Thankarang Park, Koh Ramhah and Khrem Falls. Overnight in Cherrapunjee.
Day 03: Cherrapunjee Sightseeing Tour
After breakfast we trek to Single Decker Living Root Bridge - 3-4 hours from the Resort. Distance 4 km down and up 1000 feet approx. This trek starts from the Resort premises and goes down hill through village Sohsarat. The steps are relatively steeper in two short stretches. Half the distance is covered by steps going down hill. Then there is a jungle path going along the sides of the hill leading to the Living Root Bridge with a few steps after short stretches of sloping foot path. Moss thrives on these sandstone steps during the monsoon and makes them slippery. Back trek to resort and evening at leisure with local music placed by the local boys. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.
Day 04: Cherrapunjee To Shillong
After breakfast local sightseeing in Cherrapunjee. Later drive back to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.
Day 05: Departure To Guwahati Airport
After breakfast drive to Guwahati airport(140 kms / 4 hrs drive approx).
