About

Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1974. It is bounded by coffee and cardamom plantations. Brahmagiri peak lies on the south-eastern boundary. The vegetation in the low lying areas is predominantly evergreen and semi evergreen (mainly of Bambusa species) forests, while shola grasslands cover the higher altitudes. Bamboos are well represented in these forests. Interesting birds in the Sanctuary include emerald dove, black bulbul and Malabar trogon.
