About

Everyone knows that Los Angeles is the entertainment capital--but insiders know you can actually participate in magic of television (for free!). On your visit to L.A., you can watch the cast of “The Big Bang Theory” improvise hilarious lines, or a master comedian at work during “Hot in Cleveland.” Watching sitcoms, talk shows, and game shows live provides an opportunity to see your favorite stars up close and personal. As one of the many free things to do in LA, the best way to get tickets is to order in advance through vendors such as Audiences Unlimited or hollywoodtickets.com , both of which feature sitcoms and talk shows. A good resource for talk shows is www.tvtix.com , and On Camera Audiences specializes in reality TV shows. Or you can check each show's official website, such as the popular "Ellen DeGeneres Show ," and try your luck at getting tickets directly through them. Peak production season runs August through March. Get the most out of your TV show taping experience by knowing before going with these helpful tips: Get there early: Studios overbook their tickets, so it’s a good idea to show up at least 90 minutes in advance. Plan to be there for three to four hours: Sitcoms can take a while to film, and the audience is required to stay for the entire time. Dress for a cameo: Studio staff place the best-dressed audience members up front, where you’re most likely to get filmed. Be enthusiastic: Often times, employees of the show vet the audience beforehand, making note of the most eager of audience members and sometimes even asking them to be part of the show.
