About

Situated in the historic Fort-Colaba area, the David Sassoon Library is worth a visit not only for the humongous collection of books, but also for its timeless Victorian architecture. Built by Albert Sassoon and named after his philanthropist father David Sassoon (as is the Sassoon Dock), this Gothic building has been catering to thousands of voracious readers since 1870. Be it for research on myriads of subjects or some light reading, the library proves resourceful. Across the street is the Jehangir Art Gallery, and investing a couple of hours in both these institutions is well worth your while.
