Guru Shikhar

Guru Shikhar is the highest mountain peak in the region, at around 1,722 m above sea level. Tourists can enjoy trekking at this mountain peak and can get an aerial view of the Mount Abu region. There is an ancient Guru Dattatreya Temple at this peak, which has an idol of Guru Dattatreya. Guru Dattatreya is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. This temple has a giant brass bell hanging just outside the entrance. Other important temples situated at this mountain peak are Chamundi Temple, Shiva Temple and Mira Temple. This mountain peak is located at a distance of 15 km from Mount Abu in the Aravalli Range. Beside the temples is the Mount Abu Observatory, which is managed and operated by Physical Research Laboratory.
