Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Darwin

  • Upon arrival into Darwin Airport, you will be met by your local guide and/or driver and be transferred to your hotel. Tonight, enjoy a Welcome Dinner with your group at Hanuman.

  • Destination Information - Darwin – Darwin is the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory, situated on the Timor Sea and a former frontier outpost. It is known as the gateway to Kakadu National Park and famous for its wildlife nestled in and out of the city.

Day 2: Darwin – Kakadu

  • In morning, after breakfast depart Darwin and head south. Enjoy the famous Jumping Crocodile cruise on the Adelaide River. See these prehistoric creatures up close as your local guide entices the crocodiles to leap out of the water. Continue on into Kakadu National Park, travelling through pristine wetlands and a suite of landscapes varying from red-hued escarpments to floodplains teeming with wildlife. Continue to Ubirr, where you will climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries, believed to be around 20,000 years old, to the lookout for a spectacular view.

Day 3: Kakadu - Katherine

  • This morning you will be mesmerized as you explore the Nourlangie rock art site, which had provided shelter to Indigenous people for millennia. Later, visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre for an insight into the local Bininj culture. Later join your specialist local guide for a cruise on Yellow Water Billabong, which is Kakadu’s most famous wetland and home to saltwater crocodiles and dozens of species of colourful birdlife. Before arriving in Katherine, stop at Leliyn (Edith Falls), whose natural pool is suitable for swimming throughout most of the year!(conditions permitting).

  • Destination Information - Nourlangie Rock Art Site – Famous rock painting site that documents life in the region from 20,000 years ago
  • Destination Information - Yellow Water Billabong – Expansive wetlands with abundant wildlife, featuring tranquil boat cruises and scenic boardwalk views.
  • Destination Information - Leliyn (Edith Falls) – A series of cascading waterfalls and pools on the Edith river in the Nitmiluk National Park just north of Katherine.
  • Destination Information - Katherine – Situated on the Katherine River this town of the same name is the 4th largest settlement in the territory. More commonly known as where “The Outback meets the Tropics”.

Day 4: Katherine – Darwin

  • Enjoy a morning cruise through Katherine Gorge, a stunning network of thirteen gorges carved from billion-year-old sandstone. You will be at its heart among freshwater crocodiles, wonderful birdlife and amazing scenery. Later, view the displays at the Nitmiluk Visitor Centre, where you may purchase artefacts handmade by the Jawoyn people. Return to Darwin, stopping at the historic gold mining town of Pine Creek and the poignant Adelaide River War Cemetery.

  • Destination Information - Katherine Gorge – A deep gorge carved through ancient sandstone by the Katherine River it is a central attraction of the park
  • Destination Information - Pine Creek – A notable tourist stop this small town in the Katherine region was traditionally the junction of three large indigenous ethnic groups.
  • Destination Information - Adelaide River War Cemetery – During the Second World War, Adelaide River was the headquarters of a large base, and the war cemetery was created especially for the burial of servicemen who died in this part of Australia.

Day 5: Depart Darwin

  • This morning enjoy sightseeing in Darwin. Visit the Darwin Aviation Museum, see a B-52 Bomber on permanent loan from the United States Air Force, among 19 aircraft on display. View some rare amateur footage of this and original footage from Japanese archives. Have some time at leisure in the stunning Darwin Botanic Gardens - Learn about the gardens’ natural and cultural history. One of the few botanic gardens in the world that has marine and estuarine plants naturally in its grounds. Your sightseeing finishes at 3 pm this afternoon. Later you will be transferred to the Darwin airport where your tour ends.
