Day 1: Arrival In Oslo

  • Welcome to Oslo, the vibrant capital of Norway, where the beauty of the fjord meets forested hills. This compact yet captivating city blends natural scenery with rich culture, offering everything from lush gardens to world-class museums and an evolving culinary scene.
  • To make the most of your small group journey, we recommend arriving in Oslo by 2:00 PM. In the afternoon, you'll meet your fellow travellers and friendly tour director for a short orientation before beginning your Norwegian adventure.
  • Our first stop is the Kon-Tiki Museum, where we’ll dive into the extraordinary story of Thor Heyerdahl, the legendary Norwegian explorer. Learn about his daring 1947 expedition across the Pacific Ocean on a balsawood raft, and view the original Kon-Tiki vessel up close, along with engaging exhibits about his voyages to Polynesia, Easter Island, and the Galapagos.
  • We’ll wrap up our first day together with a welcome dinner at a local restaurant, sampling delicious Norwegian cuisine as we toast to the journey ahead.

Day 2: City Tour & Cultural Icons Of Olso

  • Step back in time and witness Oslo’s incredible journey from a Viking settlement founded around 1050 A.D. to the vibrant capital it is today. Blending historic roots with modern innovation, Oslo tells its story through striking architecture, public spaces, and a thriving cultural scene.
  • This morning, we begin our guided city tour at the stunning Oslo Opera House—an architectural masterpiece that rises from the waterfront like an iceberg. Home to the Norwegian Opera and Ballet, its sloping roof offers panoramic views over the Oslofjord and city skyline.
  • Next, we’ll pass by the Royal Palace and walk along Karl Johan’s gate, Oslo’s grand boulevard lined with shops, cafés, and historic landmarks, connecting the palace to Oslo Central Station.
  • Our journey continues to Holmenkollbakken, one of the world’s oldest ski jumping arenas, where we’ll take in sweeping views and gain insight into Norway’s deep connection to winter sports.
  • We end our morning at Vigeland Park, the largest sculpture park in the world created by a single artist. Explore over 200 expressive works by Gustav Vigeland, beautifully displayed in bronze, granite, and iron, depicting the human experience in all its forms.
  • The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might explore the Norsk Folkemuseum, home to traditional Norwegian buildings and cultural exhibits, or the Fram Museum, showcasing the world's strongest wooden ship and polar exploration history.

Day 3: Olympic Heritage & Troll Country – Lillehammer To Otta

  • Today we journey north from Oslo to Lillehammer, a picturesque alpine town that rose to global fame as the host of the 1994 Winter Olympics. Nestled in the heart of Norway, Lillehammer is a hub of cultural and literary significance—officially recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature and home to Scandinavia’s largest literature festival.
  • Our visit includes the Norwegian Olympic Museum, where interactive exhibits trace the rich history of the Games from ancient Greece to the modern day. Then we step further back in time at Maihaugen, one of Europe’s oldest and most extensive open-air museums, home to over 200 historic buildings dating from the 13th century to today. This immersive experience brings Norwegian rural life and cultural traditions vividly to life.
  • In the afternoon, we traverse the legendary Peer Gynt Road, a scenic 60-kilometre stretch through the breathtaking Gudbrandsdalen Valley, often called the ‘kingdom of trolls.’ With dramatic peaks, rolling hills, and sweeping vistas, this journey is pure Norwegian magic.
  • We arrive by evening in Otta, a peaceful riverside town cradled by towering mountains and lush forests—a charming and restful retreat to end the day.

Day 4: Otta To Molde Via Snøhetta

  • We begin today with a visit to the striking Viewpoint Snøhetta, perched at the edge of the Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park. This architectural gem offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and wilderness. Recognised globally, it was awarded ‘World Building of the Year’ in 2011 for its stunning blend of innovation and tradition.
  • Our journey continues with a Special Experience aboard the Rauma Railway—hailed as Europe’s most beautiful train ride. From Dombås, we travel through picturesque mountain villages like Lesja and Bjorli, passing dramatic scenery that defines Norway’s rugged beauty. We pause at the iconic Kylling Bridge, suspended high above a turquoise river, and pass near the towering cliffs of Trollveggen, Europe’s tallest vertical rock face.

The choice is yours to relax and explore at your own pace.
  • Later, we set off towards Geiranger, taking one of Norway’s most scenic routes, the famous Trollstigen Road. This mountain pass offers a thrilling driving experience, with its winding roads that zig-zag around towering mountains. Known as ‘The Troll’s Path’, the road links Åndalsnes with the Valldal Valley and Geiranger, offering breathtaking views along the way. We’ll stop at various lookout points to capture the beauty of the surrounding landscape.
  • After a short ferry ride, we continue our journey along Ørnevegen, or Eagle’s Road, which provides stunning views of the fjords and mountains. Opened in 1955, this steep and dramatic route was named for the eagles that once roamed the area. As we reach its highest point, we’ll be treated to magnificent panoramas before arriving in Geiranger in the late afternoon.
