A Ladakh Road Trip that will make you drive on the most beautiful roads in the world as you reach the heart of the Buddhist Land of Ladakh. The fun takes new heights as you camp besides the beautiful Pangong Lake and cross the world’s highest motor able road to ride the double humped camels in the Nubra Valley. Life indeed is great.
Here is how you will spend your time
Day 1: Delhi – Manali ( 20th June 2014 )
Leave your work and worries behind as you start your Delhi to leh by road holiday when boarding a comfortable AC Volvo at 6pm on Friday evening (from Connaught Place in Delhi)
Day 2: Manali ( 21st June 2014 )
Arrive in Manali at 9 am, leisure day in Manali, chill out at hot spring waters in Vashishtha Village, hang out at various cafes in Old Manali, or just chill by a lonely stretch of the Beas river
After breakfast leave for Jispa (5–6 hours drive via Rohtang Pass, where landscape changes from lush green Manali side to arid, rugged peaks of Lahaul & Chandra Valley). The afternoon is free to explore. Night rest at guest house in Jispa.
Today is one of the longest days of this delhi to leh by road holiday wherein we cross the high altitude passes of Baralachala & Lachangla, then the mighty Skyangchu thang (Biggest & highest plateau on earth on a stretch of 42 Kms). After crossing the mighty Tanglalng la we start descending towards the Indus Valley. We will check–in to the Guest House in Leh by late evening.
Travel from Jispa to Leh
Day 5: Leh ( 24th June 2014 )
Discover the monasteries of Indus Valley including Thiksey, Shey, Stok & Matho. Spend the evening discovering the local culture of Leh.
Day 6: Leh – Nubra Valley (Khardung La) ( 25th June 2014 )
Journey towards the ancient Silk Route via the highest motorable road on earth (Khardungla 18384 feet). Visit the famous Deskit Gompa of Nubra Valley. Walk on the sand dunes and ride the double humped camel (Bactrian camels brought to Ladakh by ancient Silk Route traders). Night Stay in Nubra.
Shanti Stupa has become a popular tourist attraction. According to The Hindu it is the "most famous tourist attraction" around Leh, though its architectural style is different...

Travel from Nubra Valley to Leh
Day 8: Leh- Pangong Tso (27th June 2014)
Today in this delhi to leh by road holiday you will discover the myriad colours and shades of Pangong lake. Leave Leh in the morning and cross the third highest motorable pass (Changla) on earth. Spend good 3–4 hours by the great Pangong, 2/3rd of which lies inside the China border. Overnight at Camps by the Pangong Lake.
