3 Brødre

Øvre Slottsgate 14 Cuisines: Mexican, American

About

We used to come here for old-fashioned Norwegian fare. Not anymore. The cuisine is now south of the border -- the U.S. border, that is. "Three Brothers" is named after the glove manufacturers who once occupied this building. In their heyday in the 19th century, the brothers were said to have kept more fingers from freezing off than any other manufacturer in Norway. The food may have lost a bit of its punch in traveling so far from Mexico, but this is a favorite among locals. The fare is zesty and well prepared, and you'll get hearty portions at reasonable prices. Get those fajitas you've been hungering for, including one version made with prawns, or dig into double-cheese enchiladas and burritos. The entire street level houses the bustling bar, while a piano bar rests upstairs. Lighter meals, such as snacks and sandwiches, are available on the outside dining terrace in the summer.
