Al Tuguri

Via Maiorca 113 Cuisines: Italian, Seafood, Spanish

About

This three-level restaurant in the old town, the domain of chef/owner Benito Carbonella, offers the most authentic recipes in town. It's housed in a building whose history dates from the 15th century. Its ground floor is like a drawing room with sofas and a fireplace. Climb the bare sandstone steps to the dining floors above, especially the most exclusive upper floor. Grilled fish from the Alghero coast appears nightly, depending on the day's catch. The pasta delight is taglierini with artichokes or mussels and peas. The sautéed calamari stuffed with fresh vegetables is sublime, as are the linguine with ricotta, fresh tomatoes, and arugula. Desserts are homemade daily.
