About

The Al'Mad formation managed by the percussion player, Alek Glondys, was recognised "one of the most captivating Polish hardbop groups" (Jazzi Magazine.) Its continuation is the Aleksander Glondys quartet (quintet.) It is composed of four powerful music-making individualists which, instead of leading to conflicts, results in a captivating dialogue for four voices. Although powerfully set in the jazz-of-the-middle trend (Coltrane, Henderson, Haden,) the band draws from a highly diverse repertoire, equally freely reaching for the music by Frank Zappa as compositions including elements of folk, free, or the so-called EMC-sound. What results is highly colourful and plastic music: half a century of jazz and similar music processed by four talented persons. Many a famous celebrity of Polish jazz has performed with the group; their number has included A. Kawończyk, M. Janicki, L. Szczerba, and J. Witko.
