Angermeyer Point Restaurant

Angermeyer Point Cuisines: American

About

This gets my vote for the best-located and most-atmospheric dining spot in Puerto Ayora. This old stone house, with a broad wraparound wooden deck, is set on a rocky promontory facing the bay. It was the former home of local legend and painter Karl Angermeyer, who arrived here in 1937. Weather permitting, you'll definitely want to grab one of the waterfront tables on the outdoor deck. You'll probably spend as much time enjoying the sight of sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and marine iguanas as you will enjoying your meal. In fact, this place is also known as La Casa de las Iguanas (The House of Iguanas), and there are always large groups of these remarkable reptiles here. The food is quite good, and Friday is sushi night, although I prefer Red Sushi.
