About

Bank Museum is run by the local historical society, and is a well presented history of the town.

The Museum has a growing collection of images, in excess of 2000, of Cooktown, Palmer River and their communities, including the only known collection of 17 photos of Cooktown taken in March 1874. Some of the images are housed in major libraries across Australia, but the Cooktown Historical Society has endeavoured to collect enough images to create the most extensive collection of images of the area and its inhabitants.
