Bar do Copa

Copacabana Palace Hotel

About

Copacabana's nightlife scene just got a whole lot more sophisticated, with the 2010 opening of the ultra-chic Bar do Copa. This bar/nightclub and the elegant Copacabana Palace aims for old-school glamour rather than alternative chic, and you'll want to really dress up to the nines to stand a chance of getting past the doorstaff. Hotel guests can enter for free, but there are queues, and waiting lists, for mere mortals, so be prepared for a lot of standing in line. Once you're inside, sipping on a Fred Astaire (bourbon and blackberry cream) or Ginger Rogers (gin, apricot and lime) and watching the beautiful people glide around the dancefloor, you'll know you've really arrived in Rio.
