About

This unique memorial, for one of the greatest bands to emerge on the international music scene, was a brain child of Stephen Helle, a program manager for a local radio station. It was subsequently adopted by the municipality, and in 2008 emerged the steel sculptures of the members of the band Beatles. Between these sculpture, which are placed on a circular turntable-like plate, are granite slabs where more than 70 song titles of the band are engraved. The whole idea was to commemorate the contribution of Hamburg in emergence of the band as Hamburg was one of the first cities where the Beatles began with their magical journey. The Platz is a well-recognized memorial in this part of the city along with the Beatlemania Museum which is located at the same block. A place recommended for every ardent Beatles fan.
