Beccherie

Piazza Ancillotto, 11 Cuisines: Italian

About

Don't be put off by the fact that this restaurant is in Treviso. It is only a few miles away from Venice and can be reached by car in under half an hour. Famous for its boiled meat, it is definitely well worth a visit, especially in winter. This is a very traditional restaurant that is appreciated by those who like good food as opposed to sophisticated decor. In Treviso and in the Veneto as a whole, people love to have a good quality of life, which means looking after oneself and eating well. No frills and fame here. The cuisine is all local, and the surrounding areas are bounteous. The 'risotto alla sbirraglia' is named after the band's men who used to commandeer everything they found in the countryside and so could not always stick to the same recipe. The Treviso radicchio is only used in season when it can be found locally, and the roast goose is delicious. The speciality boiled meat dishes served here are becoming very hard to come by. So in winter this can be said to be the perfect place to eat good food. The wine list is good and includes a variety of wines as well as excellent local products.
