he golf course began to grow in, it was clear that Lajitas would once again be a Texas Golf destination.  A new, fitting golf course name would be needed to describe the championship course and the historic area.  Finally, the course was named Black Jack's Crossing, in honor of US Army General John "Black Jack" Pershing leading the 8th Calvary across the Rio Grande near Lajitas while chasing Pancho Villa.
