Great views abound at San Bruno Mountain State and County Park near Brisbane. Not long ago, this area just south of San Francisco was privately owned. Today, the open space boasts 2,500 acres of glorious public access, and the 3-mile Summit Loop Trail offers a jaw-dropping view of San Francisco, the East Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Visit in spring to catch glimpses of Mission Blue butterflies, which migrate through the area annually. In summer, dress warmly and prepare for fog.
