Television Tower Prague - Žižkov | The television tower in Mahler Gardens in the district of Žižkov is the highest structure in Prague. Its height is 216 m and its weight is around 2 200 tons. The project originated in the 80s and its authors are architects Václav Aulický and Jiří Kozák. Preparatory work started in 1985 and the transmitter was put into service on 18 February 1992. The structure is composed of three steel body tubes. There are two personal lifts in the main tube, a cargo lift in the second and a staircase in the third tube. A lookout cabin for visitors is situated in the height of 97 m. 10 giant statues of babies are placed on the tower – The Babies by sculptor David Černý.
