About

This centrally located restaurant around the corner from the basilica, transforms Hungarian cuisine into au courant recipes. Though it is very popular, we attribute this to location and marketing rather than to the atmosphere or food. The decor is simplistic with stucco-colored walls and low lighting, situated within one large room; the tables and chairs can get cramped when the dining room is full, which is often. The waitstaff is extensive, so service is excellent, regardless of the size of the crowd. We ordered the apple soup for a starter. It was refreshing on a balmy evening, but not overly exciting; it tasted like apple juice with cream added. Our entrees were worthy of some praise. We ordered the chicken breast in hot caramel sauce with sesame seeds and potato croquettes and salmon in Compari sauce. Both the chicken and the salmon were moist and full of flavor. The apricots on the chicken looked too perfect to be fresh, which for the prices and the season, one would expect. Nevertheless, the food was tasty and satisfying, to the point that there was no room for dessert.
