Café Lukács

Andrássy Avenue 70

About

After a hefty and lengthy remodeling, Lukács Cukrászda is now a faithful reproduction of a vintage coffeehouse. It opened its doors on the wings of fame of the former coffeehouse by the same name, which closed years ago. Located in the World Heritage area of Andrássy Boulevard, it is just a few minutes' walk from Oktogon, and not far away from the House of Terror. This is appropriate since the prices are frightfully high, thus, less frequented than most traditional coffeehouses. They refuse to offer tap water as a side to the coffees ordered, stating that water must be ordered from the menu. A small bottle of water is 550 Ft ($2.95/£1.65), while a latte or a lemonade runs 690 Ft ($3.75/£2) each. The surroundings are lovely, so the prices are to pay for the decor, not the quality of the drinks.
