Carmel Market (Shuk Ha-Carmel)

Allenby, King George and Sheinkin streets, Tel Aviv, Israel

About

Sunday through Thursday from 8am until the sun sets, and on Fridays from 8am to 2pm, you can meander or maneuver your way through the Carmel Shuk, or market. You can enter from the backside, off Hayarkon near Jaffa, or the more common entrance which can be found at the junction of Allenby Street and King George, Sheinkin. To the south of the Carmel Shuk entrance is Nahalat Binyamin, and on Tuesdays and Fridays there is an artist's market there featuring the local artistry of Tel Aviv. In the shuk, one can buy everything from Judaica to souvenir t-shirts, scarves to nuts, bread to fish, sunglasses to fruit. You can try to haggle, but prices are good, especially for the dollar or the Euro and these Israelis aren't going to lower their prices, and you won't find a better priced item down the way.  A visit to Tel Aviv is absolutely incomplete without a stop in the Carmel Shuk.
