Shahid Minar, means "Martyr Monument" established to commemorate those "language hero" who died for establishing Bangla as a state language at the then Pakistan in 1952. It is one of the greatest proud of the Bengali nation. We are the only nation in this world who sacrificed lives to establish the right of mother language. UNESCO recognized this day as the International Mother Language day to show respect to those brave heart. Every year on 21st February we show our gratitude and respect to the martyrs. It is plying a vital role in our Nationalism. This Monument is located beside Dhaka Medical College and Dhaka University.
