About

An important Norman stronghold rebuilt in the 14th century, forming part of the three castles of Ogmore, Newcastle and Coity. There are extensive ruins including a large gatehouse, tall imposing towers and a curtain wall. The famous Welsh prince, Owain Glyndwr attacked it in 1404. The castle was eventually abondoned in the 16th century
