Belo Horizonte, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil

About

The architectural complex of Pampulha in Belo Horizonte , MG , was designed by Oscar Niemeyer , custom mayor Juscelino Kubitschek , and built between 1942 and 1944. Juscelino wanted to develop an area north of the city called Pampulha . So commissioned the young and already renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer to design a series of buildings around the artificial lake of Pampulha, a casino, a church, a house ball, a club and a hotel. Except for the hotel, the group materialized with the opening on 16 May 1943 , in the presence of President Getúlio Vargas and the governor of the state of Minas Gerais , Benedito Valadares .
