About

There's a theme associated with this restaurant (dining in heaven), which you might find charming or cloying, depending on your point of view about the afterlife. It's a worthy restaurant with an amusing theme, good food, and lots of insights into the Finnish aesthetic. It occupies an antique wood-sided house a short walk uphill from the commercial core of Turku, in a warren of artfully old-fashioned dining rooms loaded with depictions of angels. There are also a quintet of ceramic stoves that in midwinter throw off a gentle heat. Our favorite dining room is replete with depictions of saintly icons. Menu items continue the angel theme with fried perch with stewed spinach known as "The Kitchen Angels' Favorite," Greek salads known as "Piece of Heaven," and fried salmon with chanterelles and new potatoes identified as "Cupid's Hit."
