Faz Gostos Lx

Rua Nova da Trindade 11

About

The Portuguese are veritable masters at recuperating rundown buildings or breathing new life into historic structures. Such is the case with this recent addition to the Lisbon culinary scene. The restaurant has been built into the 14th-century foundations of the former Convento da Trindade. For decades the same space served as a workshop where safes and other strong boxes were manufactured. Examples of original stonework embellish the interior; vaulted ceilings reinforce the sense of history. But it is the extraordinary collection of 18th-century azulejos (blue decorative tiles) randomly arranged across the walls that truly convey the special significance of this magical little eatery. The atmosphere is hushed and intimate, the cuisine traditional Portuguese with a modern twist. Set menus are complemented by an extensive à la carte choice. The wine list numbers over 200 national and international labels. Pre- or post-dinner cocktails can be enjoyed at the bar.
