Frederiks Bastion

Refshalevej 80

About

Part of the city's old defences (along with Kastellet and Christiania) this immense, fort-like building was built in 1745 for storing ammunitions and is now a restaurant/cafe with a contemporary Scandinavian menu and an art gallery. Its atmospheric location right on the harbor affords great views over to Holmen. In addition to the changing art exhibitions from generally local artists, a small, permanent exhibtion describes the history of Holmen and its role in defending the city.
