This is a restaurant with attitude, not for the decor, but from the staff. At times they can be downright surly, but it does not keep the customers away; we think it actually makes for entertainment with the meal if you know in advance. This is a plain, down-home place with no frills and the prices reflect it. The daily offerings from soup to desserts and everything in between are posted with signs hanging on a Pegboard near the front windows. Everything is al a carte, even catsup for the French fries will cost you extra. If you want to see the surly waiter, ask for something again after he has delivered your meal and before you ask for your check. The portions are humongous and when something runs out, that is the end of it. We love the chicken with the bleu cheese sauce and the mashed potatoes are the real deal. Lunch or an early dinner is best for the full day's selection. After 7pm, you are taking your chances. Now take a deep breath and order everything you think you want.
