About

Air Raid Shelters were built at football ovals throughout Adelaide during World War II. Their purpose, however, was not to act as bomb shelters for large numbers of people, but were civil defence communications centres and a base for local Air Raid Wardens. The shelter is open in the afternoon of the third Thursday of every month. It is also open on Anzac Day (25 April) and Armistice/ Remembrance Day (11 November).
